Ok, sure... This is a McDonald's. Expectations are already set. But this was really bad for any McDonald's. We ordered three hot cakes and an egg mcmuffin. Did the drive through on our way in to Yellowstone. We got one pack of butter and one syrup for three orders. No straw or napkins. Then halfway through the cold hot cakes my daughter finds a hair clump. We all close up our food and that was that.

1 star for the location & rusticity cool exterior. 1 star for the quality of the food. It's comparable to the best locations I've been to throughout the world...although that's not saying much. -1 star for the ÃœBER INFLATED PRICES. It cost us nearly $57.00 for 15 hamburgers, and 10 large fries. Their "dollar" menu has an average price of $2.50 per item. They don't offer the normal $1.00 any size beverage like most locations do. -1 star for the crowds. I know it's not the location's fault, but it is a downside for people to keep in mind (as if people seek out wisdom and insight before pulling into a McDonald's parking lot). There aren't many quick food choices in town, so the result is overcrowded wait times to order, sit, and even to use the restroom. -1 star because there was no visible protection for customers from the very eminent danger of bear attacks. There were several bear boxes for trash (bear proof metal containers with inner latches that bears supposedly can't open). Get some armed guards. Don't you know that bears are deadly???? Ok, so I could've been a little less harsh with that last -1, but I'm still frustrated with the amount of money we spent. Grrrrrrrr

My family visited this McDonald's located at West Yellowstone and this place was really busy Prices are high which we all know this is Yellowstone National Park so expect the high prices before coming so you can plan ahead for food options around town. Now let's talk about our food order my french fries were really salty and didn't eat much of them. My sister's french fries had a dead bug in them and the manager was in shock when I showed the bug to her she gave us a refund for our food order. There is limited seating inside of McDonald's and some seating outside. The staff here are nice and pleasant but need to listen to food orders before giving the wrong food orders or messed up orders to the customer before or after customer who ordered. Yes some of the staff are foreign exchange students who come here to work then go home when it's their time to go home. When we order they spoke pretty good english. Over all experience is good except the bug in the fries and slow wait times and messed up food order but things like this happens from time to time no matter where your at.

Was disappointed with the service. They got our order wrong and neglected to give us sauce for our nuggets. I would forgive this. But it was late and way pass lunch rush. We were the only ones in line. Come on guys. You can do better.

PROS: Good tasting cheap food for a tourist town. They had wifi. CONS: Cramped dining area. Slow wifi. Prices are 50% more than other McDonalds.

  • Austin B.

This was bad even for a McDonalds. We got there at 9:50 (a good 40 minutes before the breakfast cutoff time) and they told us that they couldn't serve us breakfast food other than the extra stuff that they had already made earlier in the day. Then, when we got it, the food was nearly cold and tasted pretty lousy. Sadly, this was the only breakfast fast food in the area, so we had to eat here all 3 days we were at our resort. Each time they forgot something, whether it be cream in the coffee, syrup for our pancakes, or even extra ketchup for our hash browns! The only nice thing about this place is the design of the exterior. Awful service and poor food.

High prices? Ok. There's almost literally nothing around Yellowstone and some surcharge is understandable. SUPER high prices plus dirty dining room, dirty bathrooms, rude employees, rude manager, cold food, soda machine out of syrup, overflowing trash cans, tiny dining room and parking lot? Not ok. Grab something from a cafeteria in the park instead--believe it or not, the prices are lower (for a vastly better quality, quantity, and atmosphere).

I don't know why all of the low ratings on yelp for this McDonald's. I know it's McDonald's but still it seems to have some low ratings. Let's go over some of the issues others have brought up. First the prices. It's west Yellowstone, what do you expect? Everything in this city is overpriced. And this includes McDonald's. Have you looked at flies for fishing? They run three times what they would in a normal city. So the surcharge is understandable. Next up are the employees. I see a lot of comments about how they don't speak English. West Yellowstone is full of foreign exchange students during the summer. The students come from all over the world and English is not their first language. They do their best to communicate and I did not have any problems communicating with them. They never got our order wrong, they were never rude with us and were always friendly. Overall I give this McDonald's three stars. Why? Because it's McDonald's and McDonald's is always three stars even on a good day.

Delicious Mc Donald's! No line, food came out fast, tasted good: hot & fresh. Friendly cashier chick. Prices are higher. A regular cheeseburger is $1.99. Their machine to make frappes was out of service for cleaning, machine & price is why I didn't give a 5 star rating. Lady was checking bathroom to make sure it was clean and it was. I would recommend this location!

I'm going to buck the trend of 1-2 stars, just because (a) it's NOT that bad, (b) hellew -- you're in a tiny town of maybe 1,100 people on a good day, (c) they're 2+ hours from any major highway or supply route, and figure that big rig bringing in your Big Macs isn't running a charity, and (d) the place was on par with other McDonald's. Yes, it's pricey -- I think my go-to #10 was $8.49, a solid $2-3 more than usual (depending on where I go in town). But note: "in town," where said town is perched along an Interstate, nor a local road accessed by a US highway and the interstate 107 miles away. And it's a boring drive -- just did it, in the dark, Boooooring. But not their fault. Heck, I was just delighted they were open. And had restrooms that flush (hard to find inside Yellowstone). And thrilled they were even open; it was getting later, they do shut down for the season (and why not -- their entrance to the park closes for winter, apparently it snows here). Heck, probably part of why the prices are higher -- they're not able to pay the rent for ~3 months a year. If you want to eat local, go for it. When the sun sets, though, and it's off-season, you go with what's open... and what the toddler is going to willingly eat without a scene.

This is one of the worst McDonald's I've ever been too. I'd avoid it and try out one of the local restaurants in town or just get some snacks from the local gas station. Pros: Same McDonald's food as anywhere else. Cons: Just about everything. Cost was worse than a sports arena, $7 for a 4pc McNugget Happy Meal. Drive-thru was slow. Order taker was very difficult to understand. Order lacked basics - straws and ketchup.

  • Wayne S.

Its a pretty expensive place to eat. However, with that said, it was one of the few places to eat before entering Yellowstone National Park. The food was no different than any where else. We got our meal, the service was quick, and most of the workers were Russian or Ukrainian. Never the less, with the limited choices available to us, we made due

  • Lisa P.

This is by far the WORST McDonalds I have ever been too! Not just the food, but the manager. The manager could barely speak English and was giving everyone an attitude. I even talked to a woman that worked there and she said the manager treats the employees horrible! He needs to be fired! You're better off making a peanut butter and jelly sandwich!

  • DAVID L.

Items Ordered: - Filet Fish - Cheeseburger Value Meal - Southern style chicken sandwich SOMEONE, CALL 9-1-1. I just got robbed at this McDonald's. The prices are literally extraordinary HIGHER than any other MCD in America. I do believe that the US Dollar will experience hyper inflation at some point, but I didn't realize that this MCD location was ahead of what I believe in. The cheeseburger is literally 1.99, so in order to receive the best value is to buy the cheeseburger value meal, because it includes 2 cheeseburgers plus drink plus fries for less than $6 (not including tax.) Far from great deal, but it's better than paying 100% premiums on everything else on the menu. If you must patronize this MCD's, prepare to pay double.

  • James V.

I have been told, from a world traveler, that this place is actually more expensive then the McDonald's in Tokyo, and there is now really good reason for it. Besides the price being so bad, I can think of no reason to eat here. It's small, old, and has a limited menu. There plenty of local places in this town to eat at instead, all of which would be a better bang for the buck, and leave a better experience. This is a small town, try to savor its local flavor instead of sticking to a fast food chain.

Giant rip off. After visiting Yellowstone all day, I just wanted a drink and something light. A single cheeseburger was $2.49. The cheeseburger, an ice cream cone, and a large diet coke which would cost a little over $3 total at home was nearly $7. It was a lot more than I even paid in Times Square. There is absolutely nothing special about the place. It has a limited menu. The place was on the filthy side. And there weren't that many tables.

    (1)
  • Erin H.

It's McDonalds. I just needed to add something to my empty gut so that the vodka (that was joining us later) had some company. It was a standard Mickey-D's except that the prices reflected the fact that I could see Yellowstone NP from the drivethru.

    (2)
  • Tim B.

Most of the places we stayed at on our trip included breakfast, but not the Three Bears Lodge (that was not a good review either), so I headed out to pick up what I thought would be the best value breakfast while the family was getting ready for a day in Yellowstone. I ordered the exact list of items that I had a few days earlier in Missouri. In Missouri, the total was $18+change, but here it was over $32. Now, I understand that a tourist area is bound to have higher prices, but this is crazy. I have been to chain fast food places throughout the nation, including tourist areas, but have never seen price gouging like this (except perhaps in an airport).

    (1)
  • David M.

Talk about a rip off. Prices here are higher than what I paid at the Staples Center McDonalds in LA. Two kids happy meals, 10 piece nuggets, small fry and a big mac combo ran $27 plus change. The worker told me their prices were higher because this is a tourist town. So for these high prices, how about the service? Well, they were out of toys for the happy meals. Then they were out of lemonade. I asked for them to sub their frozen lemonade in their place. This was not possible. They insisted I pay full price for the happy meal (that includes the drink) and pay full price for the frozen lemonades. The manager got involved, and was really rude. She said their truck was late. Well for all the money you are making from ripping off tourists, perhaps you can hire a better trucking company. In the end, I told them to keep their food and went somewhere else to pick up a quick bite.

  • Marty C.

Prepare to be ripped off!! We were up early to get into the Park by sunrise, and most of the prices were 50% higher to DOUBLE what they'd be elsewhere! One great thing though: we were waiting outside at 0600....and the wolves across the street at the Grizzly & Wolf Discovery Center were obviously hungry. Their howling was worth the extra dinero at McD's

  • Phil R.

Came here for breakfast one morning to get a quick, cheap start to the day. Worst idea ever. Took longer than normal to get through the drive up line. We ordered an Iced Mocha and they gave us a frappacino at the window. When we told them we wanted an Iced Mocha the response was we don't have those. Why not say that when we ordered it??!! I think the worst part is they are WAY overpriced. Their dollar menu is 1.50 and contains 4 things? The $1 sandwich we usually get is $3.29 here. Never coming back here. Rip-off.

  • Joel B.

I learned that this is the SECOND MOST EXPENSIVE MCDONALDS in the whole country. First is in Times Square. What the fuck is that. Other than that, its a McDonalds. Same deliciously unhealthy foods. Just for $10 bucks a person

  • Debby F.

I don't think the prices are higher than where I live. This McDonald's doesn't serve latte's. Darn. Usually, McDonald's coffee is good, but this stuff was major weak... Very small McDonalds, and packed. No complaints on the staff, though. Like most everyone I've met in Montana and Wyoming, they're all smiling and nice. Five stars for that. -1 Star for coffee. Boo!
